Chair Professor Sufen Chen of the Graduate Institute of Digital Learning and Education Receive the NSTC Outstanding Research Award for a Second Time

The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) recently announced the recipients of its 2025 Outstanding Research Award. A total of 80 scholars and researchers were honored this year. Among them, two professors from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) received the distinction, and both were recognized for the second time, underscoring the depth, consistency, and excellence of NTUST’s research capabilities.

Professor Sufen Chen, Chair Professor of the Graduate Institute of Digital Learning and Education and Dean of Academic Affairs, previously received the Outstanding Research Award in 2019. Her recognition once again this year highlights her long-standing and distinguished contributions to educational research. Her areas of expertise include the nature of science, eye-tracking research, digital science experiments, metacognition, social networks, technology-integrated physical education, talent development for Industry 4.0, and learning burnout. Through innovative approaches, she continues to address the evolving needs of educational practice and industrial development.

The NSTC Outstanding Research Award is divided into two categories: “Basic Research” and “Applied Research.” The former emphasizes breakthroughs in scientific inquiry, while the latter focuses on solving practical problems. In addition to receiving a certificate of recognition, each awardee is granted a prize of NT$1.5 million.
